EROthots

If there’s one trend I come back to every single summer, it’s pink. Easy Pink Summertime Makeup Look, I love it because it just works. It’s soft, it’s fresh, it’s flattering on everyone, and it gives you that pretty, lit-up look without you having to layer on a heavy face of makeup. And let’s be honest, when it’s hot out, nobody wants thick foundation and dark, smoky eyes melting off by noon.

This is genuinely one of my favourite looks to share, because it’s the kind of thing you can throw on in ten minutes and still feel completely put together. I’ve worn it to brunches, beach days, summer parties, and plenty of ordinary Tuesdays. Here at EROthots, it’s also one of the looks our artists get asked for most once the weather warms up. So let me walk you through exactly how I do it.

You can wear this for a casual day out, lunch with friends, a garden party, a walk by the water, or as your everyday face. It never tips into “too much,” but you’ll still look like you made an effort.

Start with Fresh Skin

I’ll let you in on the secret early: this whole look lives or dies on your skin. Pink makeup looks its best on a smooth, fresh, hydrated base, so that’s where I always begin.

Cleanse first, then go in with a lightweight moisturizer. And please, even if you’re oily, don’t skip this step. Dry skin underneath is exactly what makes makeup cling and go patchy halfway through the day. For daytime, sunscreen is a must, layered after your moisturizer with a few minutes to settle. If you get shiny fast, a little primer around the nose, forehead, and chin helps everything stay put. Dry skin? Reach for a hydrating primer instead. You only need it where your makeup usually fades.

Here’s my honest tip. If your base never seems to sit right no matter what you try, sometimes it’s the skin itself, not the products. A regular facial keeps things smooth and even, and our team can tell you exactly what your skin needs. In between, I keep my canvas clean with a gentle cleanser like the Grea8 Revitalizing Face Wash, which freshens without stripping.

Keep Your Base Light

Trust me on this one: heavy foundation has no place in a summer look. A skin tint, BB cream, tinted moisturizer, or a light foundation is so much better. You’re not trying to cover every mark. You’re evening things out while letting your skin still look like skin.

Start with a small amount and blend it in with a damp sponge, a brush, or your fingers, whatever gives you the most natural finish. I personally swear by a damp sponge in summer because it sheers everything out beautifully. Something like the withSimplicity Liquid Foundation builds gently without ever going cakey, so you can add a little more only where you need it.

Then dab concealer just where it counts: under the eyes, around the nose, on a spot or two. Blend it so it melts in rather than sitting on top. The base should look fresh, never full. That’s the look.

Use Pink Blush as the Main Feature

Now for my favourite part. Blush is what makes this whole look feel soft and summery, so I let it take centre stage. A good pink instantly makes you look brighter, healthier, and more awake.

Cream blush is my go-to because it sinks into the skin for that gorgeous lit-from-within finish. Choose your pink by depth: soft pink is lovely on fair skin, peachy and rose tones flatter medium skin, and deeper rose, berry, and coral-pink shades look stunning on deeper skin. Tap it onto the apples of your cheeks and blend up toward your temples for a lifted effect, and add the tiniest bit across the bridge of your nose if you love that sun-kissed glow.

My one piece of advice: go slow. Start with a little and build only if you need it, because pink blush goes from pretty to too much in about one extra layer. If you want even more ways to play with it, I put together a whole guide on pink makeup looks for every occasion that you’ll love.

Add a Soft Glow

A little glow takes this from nice to gorgeous. I use a cream or liquid highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, in the inner corners of my eyes, and a touch above my lip.

Go for a smooth glow rather than chunky glitter. Big glitter particles look harsh in daylight and cling to any texture, while a finely milled highlighter gives that clean, expensive finish I’m always chasing. If you’re oily, keep it off the centre of your face and place it only where you want the light to catch. We’re going for glowing, never greasy.

Keep the Eyes Simple

For this look, I keep the eyes soft and easy. Sweep a light pink across your lids, matte for a natural finish or slightly shimmery if you want a bit more. Add a rose, peach, or light brown through the crease and blend out any harsh lines so the eye has shape without looking heavy.

For liner, I always reach for brown over black with this kind of makeup. A brown pencil or a little brown shadow pressed along the upper lash line gives definition while keeping everything gentle. Finish with mascara, and on hot days go waterproof so nothing travels.

Here’s a little insider tip from the salon. If you’ve had a lash lift, you can often skip mascara completely and still have lifted, defined lashes that survive the heat, which is a summer game-changer. If you do want mascara over a lift, I wrote a guide on wearing mascara with a lash lift so you don’t undo the curl. And when it’s time to take waterproof formulas off at night, here’s how to remove waterproof mascara the gentle way, without tugging your lashes out.

Keep Brows Soft

Your brows set the tone for the whole face, so for this look I keep mine natural. Brush them up first, then fill any gaps with light, feathery strokes. Resist going too dark or too sharp. Strong, heavy brows fight against soft pink makeup and instantly make it look less fresh.

If your brows are already full, a brow gel is all you need. If they’re a little sparse, use a pencil with a light hand and blend it out. And if you’re tired of penciling them in every morning, brow lamination or shaping keeps them groomed and full-looking for weeks. You can also shop our brow products to keep them neat at home.

Go for a Fresh Pink Lip

A pretty pink lip ties the whole thing together. Keep it easy with a tinted balm or gloss, or go a touch more polished with a creamy pink lipstick.

My favourite summer shades are soft pink, rose, peachy pink, coral-pink, and berry. Pick whichever one brightens your face. If a pink makes you look washed out, warm it up or go a shade deeper. For longer wear, line your lips first with a pink or nude-pink liner, blend it slightly, then add your colour so it stays soft instead of harsh. You’ll find plenty of lip options in our makeup shop.

Set the Makeup Lightly

Summer makeup needs setting, but with a light hand. Too much powder flattens everything and can make your skin look dry, so I only powder where I need it: forehead, nose, chin, and under the eyes. I leave my cheeks a little fresh so the blush and glow still peek through.

Finish with a setting spray to melt all the layers together. If you’re oily, choose one that controls shine. If you’re dry or normal, a dewy spray keeps everything looking fresh and alive.

What You Need for This Look

You really don’t need a huge kit for this, which is part of why I love it. A handful of well-chosen pieces will do it: a lightweight moisturizer, sunscreen, a skin tint or light foundation, concealer, pink blush, a soft pink eyeshadow, brown liner, mascara, brow gel or pencil, highlighter, a pink lip product, setting powder, and setting spray.

Price matters far less than fit. The right shade for your skin in a comfortable, heat-friendly formula will always beat an expensive product in the wrong tone. If you want to refresh a few staples, have a browse through our skincare and makeup ranges. A moisturizer that genuinely suits your skin type is the one thing I’d never tell you to cut.

Choosing the Right Pink Shade

Not every pink works on everyone, and this is honestly where I see the most looks go sideways. If your skin is fair, soft pink, baby pink, and light rose tend to look freshest. Light to medium skin loves peachy pink, rose, and coral-pink. Tan and olive skin usually glows in warm pink, dusty rose, and deeper coral rather than pale shades. Deep skin looks beautiful in berry, rich rose, deep coral, and warm fuchsia.

My simple test: the right pink brightens your face. If it makes your skin look dull, grey, or washed out, it just isn’t your shade, no matter how pretty it looks in the tube.

The Final Look

This easy pink summer look is everything I want from warm-weather makeup: fresh, simple, and so easy to wear. Soft glowing skin, a natural pink flush, light eyes, and a pretty rosy lip. And the best part? It doesn’t need to be perfect. It actually looks better a little soft and effortless. Keep the base light, blend that blush, choose the right pinks, and skip the heavy layers.

That, my loves, is all it takes for a fresh summer glow.
